Preventing Insomnia or Lack of Sleep


One of the common causes of stress is insomnia or lack of sleep. The effect is suffering of the body, in tension and and lack of rest.

It is a common knowledge that a sound sleep is important in repairing the body for good health.


What are the ways to prevent sleeplessness?


  • Have a Regular Sleeping Time
    The body has a biological program within that tells it when to sleep at certain period of time. Violating this internal program such as being awake beyond the period of sleeping time oftentimes leads me to sleeplessness or lack of sleep. It is important to yield the self at specific time of sleep.


  • Physical Activity Aids to Get into Sleep
    A physical activity during the day such as walking, gardening, or cleaning the house can contribute to sleepiness. Sleeplessness occurs if there is no physical or mental activity during the day or during time of being awake. It is difficult to sleep if the body and mind is not tired at a certain degree. Never be tempted to lie or sit almost the whole day. Encourage the self to do a physical activity such as sports, and other exercises.


  • Identify and Avoid Mind Stimulators Before Sleeping
    One of the mind stimulators is worry. Worry about responsibility, future, work, security, relationship, are the common cases. It is crucial to settle the self with a worry that is encountered during the day. However if time and effort are not enough to solve it, one could evade it by forgetting for a moment as in the step number four, to be discussed later.     One of the common mind stimulators nowadays is browsing the internet with a mobile phone or with personal computer. The light of the monitor and also the many interesting web stuff keep my brain active. It is good to use black background to lessen the light that stimulates the brain's dynamism. If possible avoid using the computer or mobile phone during sleeping hour. However, if you are not affected by this, just ignore this tip.


  • Shutting Down the Mind
    Having a regular sleeping time is not a guarantee if the mind is thinking of something persistently. What needs to be done is to do an act of shutting down the brain's activity, like a computer. I let no idea or thought to produce. It must be a complete shut down. It is like forgetting the world for the whole night and allow the myself to the essential routine of sleeping and self-recovery. The act of forgetting is very effective when the mood of being sleepy begins.
